Annapurna Base Camp Trek - 14 Days
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is an unforgettable journey that takes you deep into the heart of the Himalayas, surrounded by breathtaking views of the towering Annapurna range, with unique cultural immersion and moments of pure bliss. If you're looking for such a trekking experience, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek (ABC Trek) is your true calling.
This immersive journey takes you deep into the Annapurna Sanctuary, through Gurung villages, bamboo forests, and alpine amphitheaters, ending in a serene soak at Jhinu Danda’s natural hot springs. It’s a trail that’s perfect for first-time trekkers and seasoned adventurers alike, offering a manageable mix of elevation, natural beauty, and unforgettable encounters.

The journey starts in Pokhara, Nepal’s tranquil lakeside city. With its European-style cafés, relaxed lakeside vibe, and dramatic Himalayan backdrop, Pokhara is more than just a starting point. Stroll along Phewa Lake, grab your last-minute gear, and breathe in the fresh mountain air before heading out.
From there, you’ll drive to Nayapul or Hille, where the trekking begins. Many hikers choose to take the scenic Ghorepani–Poon Hill detour, which adds two days to the trip and delivers one of Nepal’s most beautiful sunrises. Taking the Ghorepani–Poon Hill route adds a magical layer to your adventure. After ascending through oak and rhododendron forests, you'll reach Poon Hill (3,210 m)—one of Nepal's most iconic sunrise points. At dawn, the sky ignites in pink and gold as the sun rises over Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Machapuchare. It's a memory that lingers long after your boots come off.

From Ghorepani, you descend through lush forests and charming villages until you reach Chhomrong. Perched high on a ridge, Chhomrong is the last permanent Gurung village before you enter the alpine zone. While the stone steps leading here are steep, the breathtaking views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare make the effort worthwhile.

From Chhomrong, the trail descends to the river before winding through forests and waterfalls toward the Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 meters. Between Chhomrong and base camp, you pass through serene forests, moss-draped paths, and river valleys. Villages like Bamboo, Dovan, and Deurali offer basic tea houses surrounded by nothing but green. Here, the air smells like wet earth and pine—it's a dream for nature lovers. Here, the trails can get slippery in the monsoon—waterproof boots and poles are essential.

Reaching Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) feels like walking into the arms of giants. Snow-capped peaks form a 360° natural arena around you, including Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, and Fishtail (Machapuchare). Sunrise at ABC is pure gold—literally. The morning light transforms white peaks into glowing citadels. The silence, the majesty, the stillness of it all—it’s unforgettable. Sunrise at Annapurna Base Camp is one of the top photography moments in the Himalayas.
After reaching the summit, your return journey leads you to Jhinu Danda, where natural hot springs await—a perfect way to unwind. After descending from ABC, your trail brings you to Jhinu Danda, a quiet hillside village with a secret: natural hot springs by the river. A short 20-minute walk from your tea house leads you to this magical spot. The water is warm, the river rushes beside you, and the mountains tower silently above. Soaking in the hot springs at Jhinu Danda is the perfect reward after days of trekking.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is the perfect combination between classic customs and contemporay exploration. Like many other historical trails, this was also used by the Gurung peoples for trade and transport and gained worldwide recognition in the 20th century when Nepal opened its borders for tourism. It is now a household name for trekkers looking to expereince the Himalayas in all their glory because of the unparalleled scenic beauty, cultural depth, and the diverse nature. At Himalayan Dream Team, we provide sustainable travel solutions so your expedition to Annapurna with us can be impactful and memorable.

After about five to six hours of walking, we arrive at Ghorepani, a welcoming mountain village that once served as a rest stop for traders traveling between Nepal and Tibet. The name Ghorepani means “horse water,” referring to its historical role as a watering point for caravans.

As evening falls, the air turns cool and refreshing, inviting you to relax by the fire and enjoy a hearty dinner before resting for the night.
6th Day: Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Today is one of the most memorable days of the trek.

The sight of over twenty Himalayan summits glowing in the morning light is truly unforgettable.
After enjoying the views and a warm cup of tea or coffee at the top, we return to Ghorepani for a hearty breakfast. From here, our trail continues east, climbing gently along a forested ridge and then descending through beautiful rhododendron and pine woods, passing small streams and waterfalls.
By afternoon, we reach Tadapani, a peaceful village nestled among the trees with close-up views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. This is one of the most beautiful stops on the trek, surrounded by nature and mountain silence.
Dinner and overnight stay at a comfortable teahouse in Tadapani.
7th Day: Annapurna Base Camp Trek
After breakfast, we begin our descent from Tadapani (2700m) , a quiet village surrounded by dense forest and mountain views. The trail soon splits — the southern route leads to Ghandruk, while we follow the eastern path toward Chhomrong.
Our route descends through lush rhododendron and oak forests to reach Gurjung, a small Gurung settlement just across a suspension bridge over the Kimrong Khola River. The walk through this section is peaceful and filled with the sounds of birds and flowing streams.
From Gurjung, the path gradually climbs and then levels out as we approach Chhomrong, one of the most charming villages in the Annapurna region. Nestled on the lap of the mighty Annapurna Massif, Chhomrong offers spectacular views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) towering above the valley.
Once a traditional Gurung village, Chhomrong today combines local heritage with the comforts of modern mountain lodges.
A perfect place to relax and enjoy a warm evening meal.
8th Day: Annapurna Base Camp Trek
After breakfast in Chhomrong, we descend along a stone staircase and cross the Chhomrong Khola River. From here, the trail climbs steadily through a beautiful forest filled with bamboo, oak, fern, and rhododendron trees. The sound of birds and the rushing river accompany us along the way.
We pass through Bamboo (2,300 m) and Dovan (2,500 m) , peaceful settlements surrounded by lush vegetation and waterfalls. The air becomes cooler as the forest grows denser, creating a calm and tranquil atmosphere.
By afternoon, we reach Himalaya Hotel, a quiet stop nestled in the middle of the forest, perfect for rest and acclimatization before heading higher.
9th Day: Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Today is one of the most exciting days of the entire journey!
We start early, following the trail past Deurali (3,200 m) and gradually climb through alpine meadows with scattered boulders and occasional glimpses of snow-capped peaks. The scenery becomes increasingly dramatic as we reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m), located beneath the striking peak of Fishtail Mountain.
After enjoying short rest and incredible views of Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, and Gangapurna, we continue on a gentle uphill trail through open terrain until we arrive at Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m).

10th Day: Annapurna Base Camp Trek
After witnessing the magical sunrise over the Annapurna range, we enjoy breakfast with the mountains glowing in the morning light. Then, we begin our descent, retracing our steps past Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Deurali, Himalaya Hotel, and Dovan before reaching Bamboo.
The descent is much easier and faster, with plenty of time to take in the changing scenery and enjoy the lush forest surroundings once again.
11th Day: Annapurna Base Camp Trek
We continue descending through bamboo and rhododendron forests to Sinuwa, then cross the Chhomrong Khola and make a short climb back to Chhomrong Village. From here, the trail drops steeply down to Jhinu Danda, a small and lively hilltop village.

Together with the My Himalaya Dreamteam I made a trekking to Annapurna Basecamp. The group I joint was very nice and friendly and we hade lots of fun. Joining a group doesn’t necessarily mean there is no opportunaty to organise some things on your on. I went to a monestry one day early in the morning, so that was also possible.
Traveling with My Hymalaya was very conveniant. The trip was well prepared. It offers a lot of variety. We had good guides, who took good care of us and were very helpfull and caring. Also the porters, who carried most of our lugage, were always looking if everything was all right. So the whole team is doing its best so you can have a great time in Nepal.
I wil recommend this organisation if you are looking for: activity, flexibility, reliability and being surrounded by people who take care of you if you need there help.

When my partner had to be admitted to a hospital in Kathmandu with pneumonia on day 2 of our trip, Rik's Himalayan Dreamteam showed that they are more than worth their name.
Indira & Sameer did everything possible to put us in touch with competent doctors, adjusted our travel program daily to the circumstances, they visited my husband several times in the hospital and brought healthy food, there was always a driver ready to help. commuting between hotel and hospital... And when we had to 'swallow' the great disappointment that we had to cancel the trek we had been looking forward to on doctor's advice, they again adjusted our reservations and accommodated us in mountain lodges with magnificent views of the Machapuchare, Anapurna range, Manaslu… In short, we had a wonderful trip thanks to these treasures and are forever grateful to them for this. So yes, it still needs to be said, top organization 😊 x
