Begin an unforgettable adventure with the Khopra Danda Trek, a hidden gem in the Annapurna region. Starting with a scenic journey from Kathmandu to Kimche via Pokhara, Nayapul, and Syauli Bazaar, this trek takes you through the picturesque Gurung village of Ghandruk. As you traverse off-the-beaten paths to Bayli Kharka, you'll experience the warm hospitality of local lodges and immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of the region.

Reaching Khopra Danda on the 5th day, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri, Dhampus Peak, Tukuche Peak, Nilgiri, Annapurna I, and Annapurna South. The trek includes a visit to the sacred Khayar Lake and a journey through charming Swanta village, known for its community-run cheese factory. The trek then leads to Ghorepani, where you'll join the classic Annapurna Circuit Trek trails.

The trek culminates with a sunrise hike to Poon Hill, one of the most famous viewpoints in the world. Here, you can capture stunning photographs as the morning sun bathes the surrounding mountains in golden light. The trek concludes with a descent to Birethanti and a ride back to Pokhara. Details Outline

Upon arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from Himalayan Dream Team will greet you and guide you to your hotel. Once you reach the hotel, you can check in, freshen up, and take some time to relax. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner hosted by Himalayan Dream Team. We will spend the night in Kathmandu.

After breakfast you will drive by tourist bus to Nepal's most enchanting city, Pokhara (200km). On the route we will see more of the amazing countryside of Nepal that offers greeneries, rivers, villages, farms and beautiful mountain sceneries. In the afternoon, we will arrive. The city is famous for its magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, the five peaks of Annapurna. It is the starting point for all the adventurous trekkings. Pokhara is also called the city of lakes and has numerous beautiful lakes. You can explore the most accessible and beautiful of it, Fewa Lake during the afternoon -also by taking a boat. Explore, relax and dine by this tranquil Lake Fewa. You can even do some shopping during evening hours in the colorful streets alongside the lake.

Kathmandu to Pokhara Road Update

Please be advised that extensive road construction between Kathmandu and Pokhara has resulted in increased traffic congestion and air pollution. As a result, the journey, typically taking around 6-7 hours, may now require approximately 7-9 hours. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Alternatively, there is the option to take a 30-minute flight between Kathmandu and Pokhara. The cost for a one-way flight is USD 125 per person, offering a quicker and more convenient travel option.

From Pokhara, you'll be transferred by private bus to Nayapul (1.5hrs), the starting point of your trek. After a brief stop to stretch your legs and organize with the porters, you will set off on foot. You'll walk through the busy trading post of Nayapul, cross a small stream via a suspension bridge, and continue on a dirt road before crossing the Modi River to reach Birethanti. Your trek continues to the small hamlet of Syauli Bazaar, where you will stop for lunch. Post-lunch, you will begin the climb to Ghandruk, passing through the settlements of Klieu, Kimche, and Chane. The trail climbs more steeply up stone steps through these villages, offering beautiful scenery and glimpses of village life. Finally, you'll reach the village of Ghandruk.

Leaving the terraced hillsides and Ghandruk behind, you'll enter oak and rhododendron forest. This part of the trek is particularly pretty, with the forest alive with birds and small waterfalls. If you visit in spring (late March to April), the rhododendrons will be in full bloom. There are no villages on today’s route, but you'll find teahouses at Baisi Kharka for drinks and rest. You'll enjoy fine views of Annapurna II, III, IV, Annapurna South, Machapuchare, and Lamjung Himal along the way. Your lodge at Tadapani is the perfect setting for sunset and sunrise views.

Today, you'll leave the main trail that leads to Ghorepani and follow a rarely used trail through thick rhododendron forest to local water buffalo pastures. The climb is gradual, leading you above the tree line to superb views of the Annapurna range. After lunch by a small stream, you'll continue to climb gradually through open countryside, reaching a small pass. The trail then descends through rhododendron to an open clearing known as Bayli Kharka, where you'll stay at a lodge with great views of Dhaulagiri Himal.

This morning, descend through open ground and forest to reach the pastures of Lower Chistibung, where you will have lunch. After lunch, continue ascending gradually through the forest and passing several buffalo grazing pastures to reach a clearing and temporary herder’s settlement at Upper Chistibung. Here, you'll stay in a small community lodge. The lodges in this area are run by local communities, benefiting local projects and schools through tourism.

From Chistibung, you will embark on a steady climb to reach the Khopra Ridge. This trek takes you above the tree line and through an area known for its wildlife, including the Himalayan tahr and Danfe pheasant. The best approach is to ascend steadily, taking your time and resting as needed. You will reach the lodge on Khopra Ridge in time for lunch, greeted by awe-inspiring views. This extraordinary panorama includes Annapurna South towering directly above you, with Fang and Nilgiri prominent to the north. Across the depths of the Kali Gandaki Valley, the Dhaulagiri Himal dominates the western skyline.

Spend a day exploring with a beautiful hike to Khayer Lake at (4,700) meters. This challenging trek is not recommended for everyone, as it takes 7 to 8 hours round trip, but the breathtaking views of Annapurna I and surrounding peaks are worth the effort. Alternatively, you can hike to Thanti (around 4,200 meters) and return. Thanti offers shelters for yak herders and shepherds, providing mesmerizing views of nature's beauty.

From Khopra Ridge, you will descend steeply off the hillside, retracing your route to Chistibung before heading to the village of Swanta. Here, you'll stay overnight in a newly constructed lodge. Leaving Swanta, you'll descend through village fields to a small river and visit a local watermill. After crossing a suspension bridge, you'll ascend to the village of Chittre, joining the main trekking trail. A further ascent brings you to Ghorepani, where you'll be rewarded with great views of the Dhaulagiri massif and a well-earned rest.
