An exquisite combination of culture, nature, and wildlife in a single destination in Nepal
Himalayan Dream Team invites you for a 9-day tour to explore the cultural treasures of Kathmandu Valley and adapt to the pristine nature of Bardia National Park.
We begin in the Kathmandu Valley - it hosts a multitude of UNESCO World Heritage Sites where ancient temples and architectural masterpieces stand alongside living customs. This is a busy city with lots of interesting attractions, and from there we go to Nagarkot- a serene hilltop that offers spectacular views of the sun rising and setting against the mountains.
Our next stop is Bardia National Park, the largest and the most untouched wildlife sanctuary in the country, situated in western Nepal. Here, you’ll have the thrill of jungle activities like a jeep safari, birds watching, nature walking, or a float safari on Karnali River. This region is rich in biodiversity and has species that include tigers, rhinos, wild elephants, and even freshwater dolphins.
Along with this, we get to interact with the local Tharu tribespeople and experience their hospitality and culture firsthand.
We finish the tour in Kathmandu, where everyone has a relaxed free day in which they can roam around Thamel, get a Nepali spa massage, or partake in an extra cooking class to top of a wonderful trip to Nepal.
A member of our team will greet you at the terminal and will assist you with the transfer to the hotel. After checking in, the rest of the day is free for personal activities. Later in the day, we would like you to join us for dinner at one of the wonderful local restaurants where we talk about the magnificent Kathmandu Valley and Bardia National Park.
Following a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we undertake a full day of cultural visits through the historical sights of the Kathmandu Valley, with several UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Pashupatinath Temple :
On our first stop, we visit the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest temples for Hindus in Nepal, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. This unique place gives one the chance to witness firsthand the age-old customs and cremation rituals which is part of Nepal’s diverse religious traditions.
Boudhanath Stupa
The next destination is the stunning Boudhanath Stupa. It is among the largest stupas in the world and serves as the center of Tibetan Buddhism. The peaceful environment, which is enhanced by the presence of surrounding monasteries, prayer wheels, and colorful flags, allows one to reflect and appreciate Nepal’s multifaceted nature with deeper insight.
Kathmandu Durbar Square
In the afternoon, we visit the Kathmandu Durbar square, previously known as the royal palace complex of the Malla kings. This region has many historical temples, courtyards, and many other architectural wonders from the Newar culture which are excellent examples of Newar artistry. This also provides visitors a perfect chance to photograph sadhus (holy men) and local citizens in traditional dresses.
Explore Local Markets
Driving from the Durbar Square, we are welcomed with a funtastic stroll through the spice and vegetable markets of Kathmandu,as we make our way back to the hotel. This picturesque area has a lot of activity happening around it, ideal for capturing candid photos as well as experiencing the true beauty, aromas and rhythms of daily life in Nepal.
Morning at Patan - “City of Fine Arts”.
Before starting the tour for the day have a delicious breakfast at the hotel, and get ready to appreciate the Patan city for its outstanding workmanship of wooden and metal crafts. Like many other places around it, Patan is also a city that showcases the exceptional artistic capabilities of the Newari people which makes it as equally valuable for cultural enthusiast and photographers alike.
Golden Temple: Don't miss this remarkable Buddhist monastery which is fully decorated with carvings and statues and is famous for its exquisite detail.
Patan, The 'City of Fine Arts' : visit the Golden Temple before wandering the local marketplace, your camera will not be disappointed at this amazing UNESCO World Heritage site filled with temples, statues, and the former royal palace.
Patan Museum: this museum is dedicated to Portray the history of Nepal and its rich heritage, kindly be reminded that their array of antiquities and fine art pieces will eat the shutter of your camera.
Enjoying your newly gained knowledge from the morning, you shall now partake in some lunch (Included) before your next destination.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square: As another UNESCO World Heritage site, this area’s historical structures such as the palaces and temples are a perfect representation of Nepal’s history.
55-Window Palace: Try to appreciate this monument’s significance as one of the most emblematic structures in the country due to its famous wood carvings.
Lion Gate and Golden Gate: Snap some pictures of the gates as they are spectacular pieces of art at the entrances to the old palace complex.
Pottery Square: Capture images of local craftsmen making terracotta pottery. It’s an amazing location full of culture that is sure to please any photography lover.
Evening in Thamel – The Lively Core of Kathmandu
End your day in the crowded Thamel section of the city, one of the popular attractions for visitors and citizens alike. Here, you can capture the vibrance and multitude of cultures Kathmandu has to offer.
Old Alleys: Take delight in strolls through small streets filled with shops and cafes as well as old buildings which would have limitless picture-taking possibilities.
Monuments: Take pictures of important places that represent the culture of Kathmandu and its history.
Starting your day with a leisurely breakfast at your hotel in Kathmandu, our representative will meet you at the hotel and will take you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for the connecting domestic flight to Nepalgunj. The flight takes an hour and during this period there is a chance to view the spectacular geography of Nepal from above.
In due time, upon arrival at Nepalgunj Airport, you will be welcomed and transferred by a private vehicle to Bardia National Park which is situated about 100 km away from the airport. The drive takes around 2 hours and passes through the picturesque lowlands of western Nepal which makes it quite enjoyable.
When you get to your jungle resort, settle in and take a moment to refresh yourself as you enjoy the sublime surroundings. Your local guide will greet you with warmth and provide an overview of the exciting adventures ahead.
In the late afternoon, you can take a stroll around the resort and relax in the beautiful garden or Tharu bar. Everything is calm and peaceful. At this point, we set off for a sunset tour. This is a perfect way to ease into the rhythm of the jungle.
In the evening, experience the Tharu community, the native people and the nature dwellers of this region. Marvel at a traditional village walk, then behold an enthralling Tharu cultural dance performed in stunning costumes accompanied by music and storytelling through dance. This is a true representation of western Nepal.
Following a delicious breakfast, embark on a fascinating walking safari in the untouched wilderness of Bardia National Park. An experienced naturalist guide will help you identify animal behavior, tracks, and ecosystems as you traverse grasslands and forested areas and walk along the riverbanks.
Be on the lookout for spectacular wildlife, including the Royal Bengal tiger, one-horned rhinoceros, wild elephants, gharial crocodiles, and multiple species of deer, birds, and small mammals all in their natural habitat.
In the afternoon, partake in an exciting packed lunch. It’s even more exciting when lunch is had in a serene wilderness surrounded by spectacular views. Go further into tiger territory in the afternoon, maximizing your chances of spotting this amazing animal.
In the evening head back to the resort for a well earned nights rest before an action packed jeep safari adventure awaits you the following day.
