At Monjo, we enter Sagarmatha National Park, where trekking permits are checked. The trail then continues gently through Jorsale before the final climb begins. Namche Bazaar, often called the “Gateway to Everest,” is the vibrant trading hub of the Khumbu region and a highlight of any Everest Base Camp trek. This bustling Sherpa town sits at 3,440 meters and offers the perfect place to rest, acclimatize, and explore local culture. On Saturdays, Namche comes alive with a colorful market where traders from Tibet and nearby villages exchange goods. The town also provides modern conveniences like ATMs, shops, bakeries, cafés, and restaurants—where trekkers can enjoy treats like pizza, fresh bakery items, or an espresso before continuing their Himalayan adventure.

Your acclimatization today is a bit different. You gain a healthy body with leaps and bounds while sustaining energy, then for a bit you can stop. The region is adorned with the Khunde Hospital, which Sir Edmund Hillary opened, and the Namche Monastery to which the Buddhist traditions are practiced. For those who seek a dose of excitement, the renowned Everest View Hotel with stunning views of the Himalayas, is the perfect stretch for relief from slopes and descenders. You have remainder mas to conquer the unstable obstacles which are set.

After a relaxed breakfast, we leave Namche Bazaar and follow a quiet trail above the Bhote Koshi River toward Thamo. The walk takes us through peaceful forests of pine, juniper, and spruce, far from the busy main Everest trail. This section is less frequented by trekkers, offering a calm and scenic walking experience.

The route follows an ancient trade path that leads toward Tibet via the Nangpa La pass, and along the way we enjoy open views of surrounding valleys and peaks. With very few other trekkers on the trail, the day feels especially peaceful and unhurried.

Thamo is a traditional Sherpa village and the home village of the legendary mountaineer Ang Rita Sherpa. After arriving and enjoying lunch at the lodge, the afternoon is free to relax and take in the beautiful mountain views, including Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru.

This walk is unhurried and designed to help the body adjust naturally to the altitude while offering quiet moments for reflection and beautiful mountain scenery. These monasteries are rarely visited and provide a serene contrast to the busier Everest trails.

After spending time at the monasteries, we return to Thamo for lunch and a relaxed afternoon. A second overnight stay in Thamo allows for proper rest and acclimatization.

Today’s walk leads us onto a quiet and scenic trail toward the Kongde ridge, one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region. After leaving Thamo, we cross a bridge below the village of Samde and follow a lesser-used path along the southern side of the Bhote Koshi valley.

The trail climbs gradually through forests of rhododendron, pine, and bamboo, offering a peaceful walking experience far from the main Everest routes. As we gain altitude, the landscape opens and the views become more dramatic. Near Kongde, we reach the alpine terrain below Kongde Peak, where breathtaking panoramas of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and surrounding peaks come into view.

The trail is well maintained and carefully designed, with support from our Sherpa team whenever needed. By afternoon, we arrive at Kongde and settle into our luxury lodge, perfectly positioned on the ridge. From here, enjoy uninterrupted Himalayan views stretching across the Khumbu Valley—a truly unforgettable setting.
