Your Helambu Circuit Trek begins today! After breakfast, you'll drive to Sundarijal, a picturesque area with oak and rhododendron woodlands and stunning waterfalls. The trek starts with a steep climb from Sundarijal, leading you to the entrance of Shivapuri National Park. The trail then ascends narrow stairs to Mulkharka and continues through rural farm fields, cool forests, and the charming village of Borlang Bhanjyang, finally reaching Chisapani. From Chisapani, enjoy breathtaking views of the Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Gauri Shanker, Rolwaling, Dorje Lakpa, and Langtang Himalayas.
Early morning in Chisapani offers panoramic vistas of the Langtang Himal range. The trek descends through picturesque meadows and farmlands, passing the quaint village of Pati Bhanjyang and the Sherpa settlement of Thankune Bhanjyang. You'll continue through terraced farms and woodlands, passing through the Tamang villages of Thotung and Golphu Bhanjyang. After a climb to a ridge and a final descent, you'll reach Kutumsang, known for its traditional homes and mist-covered slopes, with stunning views of Dorje Lhakpa.
Today's trek involves an ascent to Thadepati Bhanjyang, the highest point of your Helambu Circuit Trek. You'll first reach the ridgeline of Yurin Danda, offering views of the Langtang range, Gosaikunda peak, and Jugal Himal. Continuing through Mera Danda and descending to the small village of Mangengoth, you'll then hike beyond the Thare Danda ridge to Tharepati, known for its panoramic views of the Langtang Ranges. After a brief climb, you'll descend through an ancient pine forest and follow the ridge spine, finally reaching the large Sherpa village of Melamchi Gaon.
Begin your descent from Melamchi Gaon to Melamchi Khola, passing through Buddhist settlements like Nakote, Dozum, and Chiri, ultimately reaching Tarkeghyang. Named after its monastery, the oldest in Helambu, Tarkeghyang offers a glimpse into traditional Nepali village life. The trek continues southwest through forests and small streams, passing Setighyang and Ghangyul, and after 4-5 hours, you arrive at the picturesque village of Sermathang. Here, you can visit three sizable gompas and enjoy stunning views of Jugal Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and Gaurishankar.
After a leisurely breakfast in Sermathang, descend through rice fields and green meadows. The route takes you through charming communities like Kakani and Thimbu, with the vegetation changing as you enter a subtropical area. You’ll cross bridges and pass chortens and mani walls before reaching Melamchi Pul Bazaar, a Sherpa settlement. This area, with its numerous guesthouses, is often a stop for trekkers on the Helambu Circuit Trek. From Melamchi Pul Bazaar, you'll connect with your transportation for the drive back to Kathmandu.
Enjoy a scenic five-hour drive back to Kathmandu from Melamchi Pul Bazaar, passing through beautiful hills and terraced farmland. The journey starts on a dirt road before connecting to the Tibet-Nepal Arniko Highway. You'll pass through the Newar settlement of Dhulikhel and towns like Banepa and Bhaktapur before reaching Kathmandu.
