Mansarovar Lake is a religiously sacred place, and pilgrims used to take a holy bath as part of their religious trek to Mount Kailash in the past. This was meant to wash away their souls and spiritually bless them. The Tibetan government, however, in recent times, has banned bathing in the lake, and it is not possible for tourists to take a dip there anymore. All the same, pilgrims can nonetheless collect water in a bucket so that they may take the sacred bath so they can pay respects to the tradition in a decent manner. As much as this may be deviating from their previous ways, the serene surroundings and divine atmosphere of Mansarovar still create a profoundly spiritual experience for individuals who visit it.
The Kailash Kora is a high-altitude trek that is not long in distance but takes 2 to 3 days to finish. The distance trekked is approximately 52 km with the highest altitude at Dolma La Pass (5,645m).
