In the morning, we take a 20-minute scenic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, offering breathtaking views of the towering Himalayan peaks. After arriving in Jomsom, the trek begins as we walk along the Kali Gandaki River, crossing a suspension bridge to reach Old Jomsom. From here, we ascend to the charming Thakali village of Thini, a traditional settlement that offers insight into the local culture and way of life.
Our journey continues to the serene Dhumba Lake, a peaceful spot adorned with colorful prayer flags, where we take a break to enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility. The trail then leads us through the rugged yet beautiful landscapes of Mustang, with its unique, arid scenery, until we arrive in the picturesque village of Marpha. Known for its apple orchards, Marpha is a charming place where we can explore and relax. In the evening, we visit the ancient Rinjing and Solmi Gompa, a spiritual highlight of the village.
Today’s trek takes us from Marpha along the Kali Gandaki River towards Kagbeni, one of the oldest villages in the region. The trail follows a sandy cliff above the river gorge, passing through Jomsom and onto Ekle Bhatti, where we pause to enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) and Nilgiri (7061m). After resting, we continue along the riverbed before making a gradual ascent to Kagbeni, a picturesque village surrounded by rugged terrain and ancient history. In the evening, visit the 600-year-old Kag Chode Thupten Samphel Ling Gompa, offering an enriching glimpse into the region’s spiritual heritage.
Today, we leave Kagbeni and begin a gradual ascent towards Dzong Village. As we trek along the trail, breathtaking views of Thorung Peak (6144m), Nilgiri (7061m), Tilicho Peak (7134m), and other snow-covered peaks surround us, making the journey a visually rewarding experience.
On reaching Dzong Village, we take time to explore a Sakya-Pa sect Buddhist Monastery, providing a glimpse into the spiritual life of the local community. After this peaceful stop, we continue our trek towards the holy site of Muktinath.
Once we arrive at Muktinath Temple, a revered site for both Hindus and Buddhists, we explore the sacred grounds. Here, we can bathe in the holy water from the 108 stone spouts, an act believed to cleanse the soul. The temple offers a serene atmosphere, surrounded by stunning views of the Himalayas. Nearby, there are also smaller temples and monasteries to visit, adding to the spiritual depth of the experience.
After completing our visit to Muktinath, we drive back to Jomsom. The drive takes approximately 1.5 hours, following a scenic route through the barren, yet captivating, landscapes of Mustang. Once we arrive in Jomsom, we settle into our accommodation for a relaxing evening after the day’s adventures.
In the morning, we take a short yet scenic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara, lasting about 25 minutes. During the flight, enjoy spectacular aerial views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain ranges, a fitting farewell to the rugged beauty of Mustang.
Once we land in Pokhara, we transfer to our hotel, where you can rest and unwind after the flight. Later in the day, you have the option to hike up to the World Peace Stupa, which offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas, the Pokhara Valley, and the serene Phewa Lake. The hike is a peaceful and rewarding way to experience the natural beauty of Pokhara.
